Friday featured Artist - October 1, 2010

Danny Setiawan is a New York-based multimedia artist, though originally born and raised in Indonesia. Danny very much believes that art is a prsonal form of communication and that is not defined by what art critics choose to popularise/value.

As part of his repertoire, Danny creates stunning bodypaint pieces such as the ones shown below:

An homage to Vincent Van Gogh, "Starry Night" is recreated here on a reflective looking model with downcast eyes. The simple backdrop used when photographing this piece ensures that the focus if firmly on Danny's work.

In a further homage, this time to Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss", the model is cheerful and joyous. The signature Klimt fabric pattern is echoed on the backdrop of this shot and the model herself is painted to partly fade into the background.

Salvador Dali's "The Temptation of Saint Anthony" is the insipartion for this piece. Photo manipulation further blends the model insto the background in thise stunning piece of artwork.
