Friday featured Artist - November 5, 2010
Linda Bassett is a self-taught artist originally from New Zealand but now working out of California. Much of her work is done as pencil drawings but she also creates mixed media sculptural pieces using marble resin and acrylics.
'Spirit Owl' is an incredibly detailed pencil drawing inspired by Native American Indian beliefs. Prints of this work can be purchased on zazzle using the link above.
'Red Poppies' is one of Linda's mixed media sculptural works. Even in print form, the three dimensional feel is still very apparent in this stunning work of art.
In contrast to the previous piece, this print is from an entirely sculptural piece all in white. It translates well to a printed form and is incredibly delicate and beautiful.
This mixed media piece has a beautiful faded, dusky uality to it that translates well to print. The subject matter is longhorn steers being mustered at dusk.

John Legry is a San Francisco artist who's oil paintings and drawings are in private collections across the United States and Canada. His pen and ink sketches and cartoons have been included in numerous publications. John works in a variety of media including diorama.
