Friday featured Artist - October 8, 2010

This week's Friday featured artist is Juderm, aka Jude Maceren. Jude is a published, award winning artist working out of both New Jersey and Costa Rica. His passion for art and nature show in the vibrancy of the paintings that he creates; from butterflies, to flowers and animals every painting shows his love for his chosen profession and talent.

I love Jude's cat paintings, they look as though they could leap from the canvas at any second.

The Butterfly series of paintings are immensely popular and are available on postcards and greetings cards.

This painting of a red poppy is one of my particular favorite. The translucence of the petal on the left and the detail in the stamens are points that I especially love.

Friday featured Artist - October 1, 2010

Danny Setiawan is a New York-based multimedia artist, though originally born and raised in Indonesia. Danny very much believes that art is a prsonal form of communication and that is not defined by what art critics choose to popularise/value.

All of the artworks featured below are available as poster prints by clicking on th image itself or the title below.

As part of his repertoire, Danny creates stunning bodypaint pieces such as the ones shown below:

An homage to Vincent Van Gogh, "Starry Night" is recreated here on a reflective looking model with downcast eyes. The simple backdrop used when photographing this piece ensures that the focus if firmly on Danny's work.

In a further homage, this time to Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss", the model is cheerful and joyous. The signature Klimt fabric pattern is echoed on the backdrop of this shot and the model herself is painted to partly fade into the background.

Salvador Dali's "The Temptation of Saint Anthony" is the insipartion for this piece. Photo manipulation further blends the model insto the background in thise stunning piece of artwork.
